Excerpt from officer traning manual "ANAOTM-45 Enemy Mecha Familiarization"

The IMC-5 Marshal is the top of the line Mecha fielded by the FIST ground forces.  This Mecha is assigned to officers commanding Brigade and larger size units.  It is not expected to be a front line unit, but rather for Command and Control.  It does, however contain several nasty surprises for those unfortunate to stumble across one.

First are its ADM's.  These missles carry area efffect warheads, either high explosive or FASCAM, depending on the officer.  The others are its high powered SHIVA shield, capable of turning aside attacks from all but the heaviest missles, and its Devestator beam sword, capable of cleaving most Milita mecha in half with a single stroke.  Finally, its heavy armor is rated as type Gamma, again impervious to anything less than Missles or the Main gun of a Rifleman.

FIST takes few to no chances with the safety of thier senior officers, most of whom are nobles in their own right.  These nasty machines cary the heavest electronic countermeasures of any GP unit fieled by FIST, as well as powerful A/V processors.  Normal procedures is for the Marshal to set up on a hill or other high ground where it can see as much of the battlefield as possible and stay put, directing other units in their manuvers.  In addition, these mechs carry active cloaking and are designed to be stealthy as well, allowing one to sneak away from a battle going bad or otherwise avoid capture.

Still, the most deadly feature of the Marshal is its pilot.  This mech is highly responsive, and FIST has done everything in its power to make it that way.  Each Marshal is individually produced for the officer who will use it, and as part of that, the controls are highly customized to that officer.  This results in superior performance when that officer uses the mecha, but a significant degredation of performance if anyone else tries.  In addition, a top of the line Artificial Intelligence assists the pilot by taking as much housekeeping functions off his hands as possible.  This AI not only acts as an Autopilot to allow the officer time to consider other things, but operates the extensive EW suite as well.  These two functions are fixed, but each officer has the option to add a third function to the AI as well...  and most do.  A wise officer often installs a smart suite in a subject he is weak in.  However, just about any skill set can be added as its 3rd function, so be ready for anything.

The Marshal is also the most expenisve regular army mecha in the FIST inventory.  There are other, more expensive mecha seen in the FIST ranks, but they are custom builds for very high nobles or pilots of exceptional skill.

Notes:

1)  Autopilot:  All Autopilots have Mecha Piloting and EW.  The third slot is chosen by the person assigned the Mech.
2)  ACE:  This represents customization of the control, monitor, and feedback software to adapt the Mech to the individual's style.  If someone other than the 'designated' pilot tries to use the Mech, apply a NEGATIVE MP bonus equal to the ACE.
3) Camp Kit:  Everything a noble or officer needs to live in the field except servants: Comfortable, climate controled tent, furnishings, food storage & preparation.
